Tea Education Hub
Tea Is Worth Understanding. Here Is Where to Start.
Tea is the most widely consumed beverage in the world after water. And yet most people drink it without much thought. There is a lot more available to you if you want it.
We carry eleven teas at Milestone, each selected with the same sourcing standards we apply to our coffee. This page exists to help you understand what you are drinking, why it tastes the way it does, and how to get the most out of every cup.
Tea Basics for Beginners
True tea vs. herbal tisanes.
True tea comes from a single plant: Camellia sinensis. Black, green, white, oolong, and pu-erh are all made from this plant. Herbal teas (tisanes) are infusions of herbs, flowers, fruits, and roots β naturally caffeine-free unless blended with true tea.
The five main types of true tea: White (minimally processed, delicate), Green (heated to stop oxidation, fresh and grassy), Oolong (partially oxidized), Black (fully oxidized, bold and malty), Pu-erh (fermented and aged, earthy and complex).
Freshness matters in tea too.
Store in an airtight container away from light, heat, and strong odors. Most teas are best consumed within 12 to 18 months of production.

A Note from the Founder
We added tea to Milestone because we believe the morning ritual is bigger than coffee alone. We selected every tea in our lineup the same way we select our coffees: by asking whether it is genuinely good, genuinely sourced with care, and genuinely worth the moment it is poured into.
May your cup be exactly what you need it to be.
