We built this for the ones who want something more. Whiskey Barrel Aged takes specialty-grade Guatemalan Arabica, rests it for 30 days inside retired American oak bourbon barrels, then roasts it to a medium-dark finish that deepens every note the barrel left behind. Vanilla. Toasted oak. Dark chocolate. A warm whiskey finish — without the proof. The most distinctive coffee we make.

Why We Made This

Whiskey and coffee have always belonged together — both are roasted, both are complex, both reward patience and attention. Roasted fresh in Temecula, California — in most cases the same day it ships. The Whiskey Barrel Aged coffee is what happens when you stop serving them side by side and start letting them become one. We start with high-quality green Arabica beans and rest them inside retired American oak whiskey barrels — the same barrels that spent years holding bourbon, their wood saturated with the vanilla, caramel, and oak character that defines great American whiskey. Over 30 days, the green beans slowly absorb those flavors, drawing the essence of the barrel deep into the bean before a single degree of heat is applied. Then we roast. The medium-dark roast develops the natural sweetness of the bean while amplifying the barrel character — the vanilla deepens, the caramel rounds out, and a warm whiskey-like warmth settles into the finish. No alcohol. No additives. Just time, oak, and craft.

Yield: ~17–24 cups per 12oz bag. Larger sizes scale proportionally.

Flavor Profile

  • Vanilla — warm and prominent, drawn directly from the bourbon barrel staves
  • Toasted Oak — the signature character of American oak, smooth and complex
  • Dark Chocolate — developed by the medium-dark roast, rich and satisfying
  • Warm Finish — a whiskey-like warmth that lingers without any alcohol
  • Medium-Dark Body — substantial and smooth, never harsh

The Process

  • Origin: Guatemala — high-altitude Arabica, naturally sweet and clean
  • Barrel: Retired American oak bourbon barrels — saturated with years of vanilla, caramel, and oak
  • Rest Period: 30 days — long enough to absorb deep barrel character without overpowering the coffee
  • Roast Level: Medium-Dark — develops sweetness and amplifies the barrel notes

How to Brew

Pour Over (Recommended) — The clarity of pour over lets every barrel note come through distinctly. 1:15 ratio, water at 200°F, medium-fine grind. Slow and intentional — the way this coffee deserves to be made.

Drip — Consistent and approachable. 1:15 ratio, medium grind. The vanilla and oak character come through clean in every cup.

French Press — Full body shines here. Coarse grind, 1:15 ratio, steep 4 minutes. Rich, immersive, and complex.

Cold Brew — The vanilla and oak notes are exceptional cold. 1:8 ratio, steep 18–24 hours. Smooth, complex, and unlike any cold brew you've had.

Best For

  • Whiskey lovers — the familiar warmth of bourbon oak in every cup, zero proof
  • Pour over and slow brew rituals — the complexity rewards a mindful brew
  • Gift giving — the most distinctive and conversation-worthy coffee in our lineup
  • Evening coffee drinkers — the warm, complex finish makes it a natural after-dinner cup

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it contain alcohol?
No. The green beans absorb the flavor compounds from the barrel wood — not the whiskey itself. There is zero alcohol content in the finished coffee.

How long are the beans rested in the barrel?
30 days. Long enough to develop deep, genuine barrel character without overwhelming the natural sweetness of the Guatemalan Arabica.

Does it actually taste like whiskey?
It tastes like coffee with unmistakable barrel character — vanilla, toasted oak, and a warm finish that whiskey drinkers will immediately recognize. It's not a flavored coffee. It's a process-driven coffee with real complexity.

Is this a good daily driver?
It can be — but it's special enough to save for the mornings that deserve it. Many customers keep it alongside a simpler everyday coffee and reach for this one when they want something more.
