About this coffee

Half the caffeine, all the flavor. Half Caf blends equal parts regular and Swiss Water Process decaf Peruvian coffee for a smooth cup with notes of baker's chocolate and orange peel, perfect for anyone who wants to cut back without cutting out.

Why We Carry This

Full-strength coffee isn't always the answer, and full decaf can feel like giving something up. Half Caf splits the difference: a genuine 50/50 blend of regular and decaffeinated beans, both from the same high-quality Peruvian lots, so the flavor stays consistent whether you're getting the full jolt or half of it.

The decaf half is processed using the Swiss Water Process, a chemical-free method that removes 99.9% of caffeine while preserving the bean's natural flavor, so you're not drinking around a flat, papery decaf component. Roasted through our partner roaster, Temecula Coffee Roasters, in California.

Flavor Profile

  • Baker's chocolate notes — rich without being bitter
  • Orange peel brightness — a citrus lift that keeps the cup lively
  • Smooth, balanced body — consistent whether you taste the regular or decaf half
  • Half the caffeine — roughly half the caffeine of a standard cup, same size

Ingredients

50% Peruvian Arabica coffee, 50% Swiss Water Process decaffeinated Peruvian Arabica coffee.

Yield: ~50–60 cups per 12oz bag.

How to Brew

Drip (Recommended) — 1:16 ratio, medium grind. An easy, everyday brew for a cup you can drink later in the day without the full caffeine hit.

Pour Over — 1:15 ratio, medium-fine grind, water at 200°F. The clarity of pour over highlights the chocolate and citrus notes nicely.

French Press — Coarse grind, 1:15 ratio, 4 minute steep. A fuller-bodied option if you want more richness.

Best For

  • Afternoon and evening drinkers who want coffee without the full caffeine load
  • Anyone cutting back on caffeine gradually, without switching to full decaf
  • Sensitive sleepers who still want a cup after lunch
  • Households split between regular and decaf drinkers — one bag works for everyone

Frequently Asked Questions

How much caffeine does this actually have?
Roughly half the caffeine of a standard cup of coffee, since it's a genuine 50/50 blend of regular and decaf beans.

Does the decaf half taste different?
Both halves are the same Peruvian origin, and the decaf portion uses the Swiss Water Process, which preserves flavor far better than chemical decaffeination methods, so the blend tastes consistent throughout.

Is this good for an afternoon cup?
Yes — that's exactly what it's built for. Enough caffeine to feel like real coffee, without derailing your sleep.

What roast level is this?
Medium, calibrated to bring out the chocolate and citrus notes in both halves of the blend.
