About this coffee

All the depth of a dark roast espresso blend, none of the caffeine. Decaf Espresso is Swiss Water Process decaffeinated and dark roasted for a bold, full-bodied cup with real crema and real flavor, not the flat, papery experience decaf usually gets blamed for.

Why We Carry This

Decaf espresso has a reputation problem, and it's usually earned. Older decaffeination methods strip out flavor compounds along with the caffeine, leaving behind something thin and bitter. We use the Swiss Water Process instead, a chemical-free method that removes 99.9% of caffeine using water and activated carbon filters, preserving far more of the bean's natural character.

Dark roasted specifically for espresso, this pulls a genuinely good shot: thick, crema-topped, and rich, with none of the compromise usually associated with decaf. Roasted through our partner roaster, Temecula Coffee Roasters, in California.

Flavor Profile

  • Bold, dark roast character — rich and full-bodied, built for espresso
  • Real crema — pulls like a genuine espresso, not a decaf substitute
  • Smooth, low-bitterness finish — the Swiss Water Process keeps it clean
  • 99.9% caffeine-free — chemical-free decaffeination

Ingredients

100% Arabica coffee, Swiss Water Process decaffeinated. Dark roast.

Yield: ~50–60 cups per 12oz bag.

How to Brew

Espresso (Recommended) — 1:2 ratio, fine grind, 25-30 second extraction. Built specifically to pull a rich, crema-topped shot.

Moka Pot — Fine-medium grind. A strong, concentrated cup similar to espresso, great for an evening treat without the caffeine.

Decaf Latte — Pull a shot (or brew strong) and combine with steamed milk for an evening latte that won't keep you up.

Best For

  • Evening espresso drinkers who want the ritual without the caffeine
  • Decaf skeptics who've been burned by flat, flavorless decaf before
  • After-dinner coffee — rich enough to feel like a real treat, not a consolation prize
  • Anyone sensitive to caffeine who still wants genuine espresso flavor

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this really caffeine-free?
The Swiss Water Process removes 99.9% of caffeine, making this effectively decaf, though not completely at the molecular level like all decaf coffee.

Will this taste like real espresso?
Yes — dark roasted and processed specifically to pull a genuine shot with real crema and body, not a watered-down decaf substitute.

What's the Swiss Water Process?
A chemical-free decaffeination method using water and activated carbon filters, which preserves far more flavor than older chemical processes.

Can I use this for drip coffee too?
Yes, though it's roasted and calibrated specifically for espresso. It'll make a very bold drip cup if that's what you prefer.
